|
|
The Nutritional Supplement company I partner with has been named the official nutritional supplement supplier of the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team, the national body for cross-country skiing announced on Tuesday, August 3, 2004. Canada's best cross-country ski athletes will have a nutritional edge on the competition before the national team even hits the start line this winter.
The Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team is best known for gold medal skier Beckie Scott. Scott received her gold medal because of doping infractions by the Russian winner. Scott initially won the bronze medal at the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics.
"Cross-country skiing is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports on an athletes body," said Bruce Jeffries, executive director, Cross Country Canada. "Our national team athletes train extensive hours throughout the year and staying healthy is critical to their pursuit of excellence. We are delighted to be partnering with an industry leader in providing the highest quality nutritional products to ensure our athletes are ready to train and perform at their best each day."
Under the three-year agreement, the company will supply the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team and coaches multi-vitamin products aimed at different age groups that are produced to meet strict pharmaceutical grade standards. The company will also provide an on line nutritional information and purchase option for the national ski community through Cross Country Canada and the company’s Web site http://cccski.usana.com. Proceeds from these purchases will go directly into the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team program to enhance training opportunities leading to the 2006 Olympics.
"In our fast-food society it is becoming more and more difficult for anyone - especially high performance athletes - to get all of the nutrients the body needs for optimal health from our diets alone," said Brett Blake, vice-president of marketing. "Cross-country skiing puts huge demands on the body, and it is therefore crucial to maintain a healthy diet to achieve peak performances and remain healthy. We are happy to help provide these skiers the supplementation they need to make sure their diet contains all the vitamins and minerals the cells of their body rely on."
During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, more than half of Canada's 17 medals came from speed skating athletes - the lone sport team using nutritional products from the sponsoring company. These athletes have praised the health-enhancing aspects of the products, which allow them to train more consistently and recover faster from injuries and workouts. The same company is now also the official supplier of nutritional supplements for both Gymnastics Canada and Rugby Canada.
Cross Country Canada is the governing body of cross-country skiing in Canada. Its 45,000 members are athletes, coaches and officials, including members of the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team and Canadian Disabled Cross-Country Ski Team. Cross-country skiing is Canada's optimal winter sport and recreational activity with more than one million Canadians participating annually.
This company develops and manufactures high-quality nutritional and personal care products that are sold directly to preferred customers and associates throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Canada's cross country team also uses John Berardi's precision nutrition plan. There are several other olympic teams that use precision nutrition as well, including the USA bobsled team, Canada speed skating team, Canada Canoe team, Toronto Maple Leafs, etc. The link below is a sample of the program.
