Hey All,

I was hoping to gain some insight into the different Certifications and Schools of Personal Training. I am currently looking into ASCM, NASM, and NPTI and I'm hoping to gain some insight into each of these certifications and schools in order to decide which one would be the best to obtain.

Does anyone know which of the 3 of these is the best Program and/or the most highly recognized?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated as I am looking to persue a career in personal training.

Thanks!

Hi. In my experience, ACSM is the most recognized of the three listed. NASM allows you to take the exam around your schedule at different centers (at least in NYC). You might consider a few things before deciding on these of others.

1. What is your market? What do your potential employers recognize.
2. What are the continuing education requirements.
3. What are the fees for re-certifying.
4. Get a sample test to gauge the degree of difficulty/experience for the exam.

Certifications are a tricky subject because truthfully some may not be worth the effort while others are not well respected. You could also look into ACE. The exam is easier than ACSM and they are well known.

Best of luck.
