Hey, all!

I have been toying with this idea for awhile, and can't seem to make up my mind about whether or not to do it. It has obvious advantages for the trainer, as well the clients, but there are drawbacks also.

Is anyone doing this, or considering it? I'd like to hear the point of view of other trainers.

I am also going to post this at PersonalTrainerU.com, so for anyone who sees it twice, I apologize in advance for the duplication.

Thanks!

Saw your post over a PTU. Replied here as well.

Aaron,

As a trainer, I was adamantly opposed to to 30 min sessions. After years of training a certain way, I just didn't think a 30 min session would get results. I was wrong,

As a fitness director for 2 seperate successful training companies, I found myself in a situation where I had to promote and sell 30 min sessions. I soon discovered that it was what the customer wanted. This forced a change in philosophy.

I found a way to make 30 min sessions effective. To do this clients were required to come in more frequently. But guess what, this frequency brought about a lifestyle change sooner. They spent less "daily time" in the gym. This was easy on their schedule. However, they were making the gym part of their daily routine. This made me happy because I knew results would follow.

Success stories multiplied. Renewals became a way of life. New business was easy to find. It was a win-win situation.

You really need to determine who you want to target as a potential customer. Once folks have discovered the wonderful benefits of a healthy lifestyle, they tend to make more time in the day to workout. However, most deconditioned consumers will not. They are flocking to places like Curves for Women and Cuts for Men.

I don't really think one way or the other is the "right" way. If you are totally opposed to 30 min sessions, then go for a more motivated, conditioned, niche market.

Determine target market. Then as a professional find a way to help these people succeed. This formula brings all involved the most success.

Good luck,

Acccording to some research on HGH, one of the ways to help produce GH naturally in your body is to Double splitting your weight training. Do two short sessions (i.e. chest in the morning and triceps in the evening) lasting about 30 to 45 minutes each instead of one long workout. Too bad we don't all have the time for that.

Thank you both for your input. I have also heard that the 30 minute window is more agreeable to a lot of people with the crazy schedules that we all have these days, and I have done the split routine myself (working out twice in the same day).

I've got another forum to read answers in, but right now I am thinking about splitting the difference. Going for 45 minute sessions, rather than 30 or 60. That will still allow me to fit another 2 - 3 sessions in my schedule each day, as well as appeal to the people who are really concerned about actual time spent at the gym.

Still playing with the logistics, but thanks again for your help!
